While the countdown for Rockstar Games' highly anticipated title Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) continues, unfortunately, some malicious entities are trying to exploit this excitement. Although an official pre-order period has not yet begun, nor has a definitive release date (despite dates like November 19 circulating) been announced, cybercriminals are developing various scam methods by abusing players' enthusiasm for GTA 6. In-depth research conducted by the cybersecurity firm NordVPN reveals a significant increase in fake beta test calls, download packages containing malware, and phishing sites specifically aiming to steal GTA Online account information. While players can add GTA 6 to their wish lists, this does not mean official pre-orders have started, and this situation does not prevent malicious individuals from infiltrating the gaming community. Currently, deceptive websites and advertisements are appearing under enticing titles such as 'free GTA 6 keys,' 'special beta access codes,' or 'leaked footage from the new trailer.' Such sites employ phishing tactics specifically aiming to gain access to Rockstar Social Club accounts. Furthermore, platforms promising fake download opportunities and GTA 6 pre-orders that are not yet possible have also become widespread. Unfortunately, a large portion of these fake contents harbor malware or viruses that can steal personal data and harm systems when installed on devices. This cyber threat encompasses a broad risk, not only for PC users but also for mobile device users with Android operating systems. Therefore, as players await to step into the virtual streets of Leonida and Vice City, prioritizing their digital security is of utmost importance.
